Abstract
Decasubstituted water-soluble pillar[5]arenes containing both ammonium fragments and amino acids residues (Glycine and Glycylglycine) were synthesized for the first time. Spatial structure of the decasubstituted pillar[5]arenes was established by two-dimensional 1H-1H NOESY NMR spectroscopy. It was shown by one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy that amino acid residues of macrocycles are directed outwards from the macrocyclic cavity, due to the electrostatic repulsion of positively charged ammonium groups. It was found that pillar[5]arene containing Glycine fragments formed nanosized particles.
