Abstract
In this study, two macrocycles, i.e. thiacalix[4]arene and pillar[5]arene derivatives, were used as components of polyplexes and micelleplexes in the formation of the complex with DNA from salmon sperm. The size and structure of the various complexes were characterized in detail by dynamic light scattering (DLS), circular dichroism (CD), and UV-vis spectroscopy. For the first time, we have found similarity in the DNA chain packaging between the polyplexes and the micelleplexes. The S-DNA secondary structure was modified after being packaged due to electrostatic interactions. Therefore, these results have the prospects in the future design of the system for the biomacromolecule delivery.
