Novel chiral N,N’ -diaryl-α-naphthamidinium- N -[1,2,3,4-tetra(methoxycarbonyl)cyclopentadien-5-yl] ylides and their gold(I) and mercury(II) complexes have been prepared and their structures studied using X-ray crystal analysis and 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy.
