In the future, photovoltaic systems with battery backup will be much more important. They reduce the load on the network, because electricity produced and not used during peak hours can be stored locally and thereby reduce the losses caused by its transmission over long distances. An optimally selected battery capacity can provide better performance for energy systems. Furthermore, batteries increase the self-consumption and autonomy of households and thus help to reduce energy costs. Currently, the economic situation is also a consideration for consumers when choosing photovoltaic system with battery bank. The goal is to minimize the life cycle costs of energy systems, which are initial investment costs and operating costs. This article focuses on finding the optimal size and operating conditions for a battery energy storage system used for solar photovoltaic systems, taking into account economic aspects to minimize the cost of the battery energy storage system.
