Abstract
A single phase, ReTe2, formed between 450° and 935°C in sealed, evacuated fused silica tubes. The compound may be indexed on a triclinic unit cell, but an unequivocal unit cell cannot be chosen without single-crystal X-ray data. The compound dissociates at 935°± 5°C in sealed tubes to solid rhenium and liquid tellurium with a high vapor pressure. No ternary compounds are found in the system Re-Pb-Te.
