Abstract
The reaction between aqueous manganese(II) acetate and cimantrene carboxylic acid in MeOH has been shown to yield the Mn[(OOCC5H4)Mn(CO)3]2[O(H)Me]4 complex containing labile methanol molecules, which can be substituted by pyrazole or 3,5-dimethylpyrazole under mild conditions to form mononuclear Mn[(OOCC5H4)Mn(CO)3]2(Hpz)4 or binuclear Mn2[µ-(OOCC5H4)Mn(CO)3]2(Hdmpz)6, respectively. The reaction between aqueous manganese(II) acetate and pyrazole results in the {Mn(µ-OOCMe)2(Hpz)2} n polymer. The synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR spectroscopy, chemical analysis, and X-ray diffraction.
