Abstract
The complex Mn[(OOCPh]2[O(H)Me]4 (1) was prepared in a high yield via the reaction of aqueous manganese acetate with benzoic acid in methanol. The slow diffusion of γ,γ'-dipyridyl solution in methanol into the methanol solution of adduct 1 and Mn[(OOCC5H4Mn(CO)3]2[O(H)Me]4 at a 1 : 1 reagent ratio and room temperature gave rise to polymers {[(µ-γ,γ'-dipy)Mn(µ-OOCPh)]2}n (2, 2D) and {(µ-γ,γ'-dipy)2Mn2[µ-(OOCC5H4Mn(CO)3]2[η2-(OOCC5H4Mn(CO)3]2}n (3, 1D), respectively. The resulting compounds 1–3 were studied by chemical analysis, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis.
