New Heterometallic Carboxylate Complexes of Platinum and Iron, Precursors for Nanosized Intermetallic Compound PtFe Production

Abstract
Abstract The interaction of acetate platinum blue [Pt(OАс) 2.25 ] n with oxoacetate complex of Fe(III) or potassium hydroxoplatinate K 2 [Pt(OH) 6 ] with Fe(II) acetate and acetic acid gives complex [PtFe(OAc) 4 ] 2 O ⋅ 4CH 2 Cl 2 ( I ) and an exchange of I with pivalic acid gives the complex [PtFe(Piv) 4 Cl] 2 (II). Both were structurally characterized (CCDC nos. 1949448 and 1952998 correspondingly, deposit@ccdc.cam.ac.uk or http://www.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/data_request/cif ). These compounds have the structure of “chinese lantern” and are potential precursors for bimetallic catalysts, for instance for fuel cells.
