Bis(2,4,7,8,9-pentamethyldipyrrolylmethene-3-yl)(4′-methoxyphenyl)methane dihydrobromide was synthesized and its spectral properties were studied. It was found that the basicity of the ligand 3,3′-bis-(dipyrrolylmethene) decreases upon insertion of the methoxyphenyl group in the 3,3′-spacer.
