Abstract
Nickel, molybdenum and tungsten phosphides were obtained in situ directly in the reaction medium for the hydrotreating of light cycle oil. Phosphides obtained were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was shown that only nickel phosphide is crystalline (Ni2P phase was formed). The activity of phosphides in light cycle oil hydrotreating decreased in the following order: Ni2P > WP > MoP. In addition, Ni2P was the most active in hydrodearomatization. Recycling catalytic tests of phosphides showed that they continue to be active in hydrotreating, however after 4 cycles their activity slightly decreases, most of all for Ni2P. The decrease is probably due to the formation of a less active phosphosulfide phase.
