Abstract

(−)-Tricyclo[4.3.0.03,8]nonane (“twist-brendane”) was synthesized via (−)-tricyclo[4.3.0.03,8]nonan-2-one (“twist-brendan-2-one”). The absolute configuration, (1R,3S,6S,8R)-tricyclo[4.3.0.03,8]nonane was assigned to (−)-twist-brendane by correlating with (−)-endo-5-carboxybicyclo[2.2.1]heptane.
