In an attempt to correlate surface tensions of liquid metals with other properties, an investigation was made to determine if the Hildebrand and Scott equation or a modlfication of it could be applied to a large number of liquid metals at their melting points. The results were plotted as log gamma (surface tension) vs. log s (energy of vaporization per unit volume). This plot could not be improved by using as Hildebrand and Scott did, log ( gamma /v /sup 1/2/), where v is molecular volume, for the ordinate. (M.C.G.)
