Abstract
In Spring 2021, there was an interdisciplinary collaboration comprising two international events. Scholars and artists in comic studies, disability studies, and accessibility services met to explore the intersection of comics making and nonvisual information accessibility. The article showcases lessons shared by event participants and offers ongoing directions for interdisciplinary research and practice. The goal is to promote new approaches to information engagement for publishers, designers, and consumers alike. Points of interest on the journey towards creating accessible comics include considerations for community engagement, equity in design thinking, and seeding collaborations with key stakeholders.
