Metals and their alloys

The development of theoretical ideas about the structure and properties of composite materials based on the application of a systematic approach and the introduction of mathematical methods for describing and modeling the processes of structure formation. Creation of a new generation of composite materials for structural and tribotechnical purposes with an increased range of physical and mechanical characteristics based on the widespread use of nanotechnology achievements, synergistic effects of interaction between structural components and self-organizing processes of structure formation. Applied activities of the laboratory The laboratory can offer developments in the field of new structural materials designed for friction pairs for various purposes (sliding bearings, rolling bearings, dry friction, friction with lubrication, etc.), in particular for aluminum matrix dispersed-filled composite materials with improved tribotechnical characteristics (contact strength, wear resistance, fatigue strength, etc.).

The Materials Diagnostics laboratory has a set of analytical equipment available for spectral analysis methods, analysis of light elements, analysis of the structure and phase composition of materials, and impact tests.

Priority objectives of the laboratory: designing new generation metallic materials, carrying out independent expert examinations to determine the causes of early failure of various metal structures and equipment. Also, the laboratory provides scientific and technical support of applied research.

The laboratory conducts physico-chemical studies of alloys based on aluminum, magnesium, copper and other light and non-ferrous metals, including the study of state diagrams, phase transformations in alloys during heat treatment, structural changes during plastic deformation and subsequent annealing, and features of the formation of the structure of alloys during casting under different conditions.

A youth laboratory created with the support of the Eurasian Scientific and Cultural Center. Research interests: Development, research and development of methods and approaches based on surface plastic deformation for processing parts and products made of structural/functional materials in a given structural state to achieve increased fatigue resistance characteristics of the finished product/structure.

The staff of the laboratory "Induction, plasma and laser technologies of materials processing" (NIL IPLTOM) is engaged in the development, optimization and introduction into the production process of enterprises of unique technologies for strengthening metals and alloys: Electroplasmic spraying of wear-, corrosion- and heat-resistant coatings made of refractory materials (Al2O3, Ticn, TiN, B4C, BN) Spraying of biocompatible coatings (titanium, calcium phosphate ceramics, including hydroxyapatite) for medical devices.
