The main purpose of the Laboratory of Baryon Physics is fundamental research in the field of baryon physics. LBF employees take part in the international scientific programs LHCb (CERN), AMBER (CERN, Geneva), as well as in research at the electronic accelerator of the University of Mainz (Germany). The main tasks of the LBF are: investigation of the charge radius of a proton by scattering electrons and muons; investigation of the birth and decay of baryons containing heavy quarks; spectroscopy of baryon states; operation and modernization of the muon system of the LHCb experiment; development of programs for mathematical modeling and analysis of experimental data.

Research directions
Investigation of the electromagnetic properties of a proton by scattering photons, electrons and muons
+
A new method for measuring the cross section of Compton scattering of photons on a nucleon using the active target technique has been developed at the Kurchatov Institute – PIAF, which allows using a continuous spectrum of photons of bremsstrahlung radiation. The implementation of the project will allow us to obtain the most accurate results, preserve the scientific potential of the scientific group, as well as develop new methods of working with hydrogen at high pressure.
