Our research is largely united by the topic of soil structure — the spatial structure of soils and how it provides the most important functions of soils in ecosystems: carbon stabilization, hydrological, biodiversity maintenance and support function (plant growth and development, mechanical stability). We do research at the intersection of physics, chemistry and soil biology. We actively use modern research methods, with a special emphasis on methods that allow us to describe and visualize the spatial heterogeneity of soils on a microscale.
