The main activity of the laboratory is evolutionary and taxonomic studies of key phylogenetic branches of unicellular eukaryotes, research on the problem of species, biogeography and the role of protists in natural communities. The laboratory's research combines both classical approaches involving the study of the morphology and physiology of the protist cell as an individual organism, and modern methods of phylogenetics, phylogenomics and molecular biology.

Research directions

Biodiversity, phylogenetics and systematics of amoeboid protists (Amoebozoa)

+
In this area, we conduct a search in natural biotopes, description and analysis of various evolutionary lines of amoeboid protists. The analysis of the data obtained makes it possible to reconstruct the evolutionary relationships within this group and describe its biodiversity using an integrative approach.
