Laboratory of Taxonomy and Morphology
Lutaenko, Konstantin A
Taxonomic revision, study of phylogeny, biogeography, ecology and morphofunctional features of individual groups of animals in various areas of the World Ocean, description of taxa new to science, study of the history and inventory of biota. To study the seasonal dynamics of structural and functional indicators of zooplankton in order to understand the phenological patterns of its cenoses in the seas of the Far East and to develop bioindication methods to identify the biological state of communities and sanitary diagnostics of waters. To study the biology, distribution and dynamics of mass zooplankton species that form the basis of the forage base of fishing facilities in the Far Eastern seas. Taxonomic studies of individual systematic groups of zooplankton in order to diagnose the structure and dynamics of water masses, study the features of vertical distribution and zoogeographic zoning of water areas in various climatic zones of the World Ocean. Investigation of the composition of planktic organisms in the ballast waters of ships in the ports of southern Primorye to prevent negative bioinvasions for the purpose of biological safety. The study of adaptations of benthic invertebrates to habitat conditions in coastal areas of the sea. The study of food chains in aquatic ecosystems using a set of methods for analyzing the natural composition of stable isotopes of biogenic elements: carbon, nitrogen and sulfur. Development of principles and techniques for managing the resources of commercial species of bivalves and echinoderms; biological foundations of mariculture. Bottom communities of coastal waters, including areas promising for the development of mariculture. Morphology, taxonomy, biology and evolution of some important systematic groups of marine invertebrates (foraminifera, nematodes, cnidarians, mollusks, crustaceans) of temperate and tropical waters of the World Ocean.
