The object of the study is invertebrates and vertebrates of various regions of the World Ocean – from the Arctic to the Antarctic, in the Pacific, Indian, Atlantic Oceans and in various latitudinal and climatic zones - tropical, subtropical, temperate and cold-water. The research is carried out with the aim of taxonomic revision, studying the phylogeny, biogeography, ecology and morphofunctional features of individual groups of animals: Cnidaria (Cnidaria; scleractinia, eight-ray corals, anemones), gastropods (Gastropoda) and bivalves (Bivalvia) mollusks, shell crustaceans (Ostracoda), Cumacea (Cumacea), equipedal crustaceans (Isopoda), animals of meiobenthos (Nematoda, Foraminifera groups), Echinodermata (Echinodermata) – holothurias (Holothuroidea), decapod crayfish (Decapoda) – Callianassidae, Upogebiidae; invasive species, deep-sea benthos in various areas of the World Ocean (cold and temperate waters of the northern and southern hemispheres, tropical areas of the Indian Pacific, Arctic and Antarctic), description new taxa for science, the study of the history and inventory of biota.
