Laboratory of Ornithology

The Laboratory of Ornithology was established in 2020 by separating the corresponding department from the Laboratory of Ornithology and Herpetology. The laboratory employs specialists studying the ecology of bird populations and demography, population biology of birds, fauna and ecology of birds of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, systematics, morphology, phylogeny and fauna, including fossil birds. Further development of research in the laboratory will be aimed primarily at the development of research in the field of phylogeny and taxonomy of birds using modern methodological approaches.
