Introduction and genetic resources of woody plants

The main activity of the laboratory is aimed at studying scientific bases and methods of plant introduction in mountainous conditions, studying flora and plant resources; problems of plant protection and structure of their populations, development of recommendations on their conservation in ex situ and in situ, creation of introduced collections of woody plants for solving fundamental and applied problems. The research object of the laboratory is natural populations of woody plants of Dagestan and the North Caucasus, cultural, medicinal, food and ornamental woody plants promising for introduction in mountainous conditions.

The main activity of the laboratory is aimed at studying the scientific basis and methods of plant introduction in mountainous conditions, flora and plant resources; problems of plant protection and structure of their populations, development of recommendations for their conservation in ex situ and in situ, creation of introduced collections of woody plants to solve fundamental and applied problems. The object of research of the laboratory is natural populations of woody plants of Dagestan and the North Caucasus, cultural, medicinal, food and ornamental woody plants The collections are inventoried using modern information technologies, in particular, the "Calypso" programme. The collections of the Mountain Botanical Garden of the DFRC RAS currently contain a large variety of resource, rare and endemic species of the flora of the North Caucasus and Dagestan, as well as plants from Europe, North America, the Far East, Central Asia, the Mediterranean, China, Siberia.
