Abstract
Go with the Flow: Strongly basic anion exchange resins were found to be excellent catalysts for continuous-flow Knoevenagel condensation reactions of aldehydes and ketones with alkyl nitriles. A key finding was the use of a spacer-modified anion exchange resin, which enabled acetonitrile, a poor Knoevenagel donor, to react under elevated reaction temperatures.
