Abstract
An acidic metabolite of glyceryl guaiacolate was isolated from human urine by solvent extraction and column chromatography. Combined GLC-mass spectrometry of the trimethylsilyl and trimethylsilyl-d9 derivatives of the metabolite and mass spectrometry of the underivatized metabolite have demonstrated its structure to be β-(2-methoxyphenoxy)lactic acid.
