Abstract
Gold(I) salts are found to mediate the de- carboxylation of a variety of aromatic and heteroaro- matic carboxylic acids at significatively lower tem- peratures (as low as 608C) than the currently used copper(I) (180-1908C) and silver(I) (80-1408C) sys- tems. In contrast to silver(I)- and copper(I)-mediated decarboxylations, the resulting aryl-gold(I) com- plexes are stable towards protodemetallation and can be readily isolated.
