Abstract
The present review considers the results of investigations of novel types of hydrogen bonds inherent in transition metal complexes, namely H-bonds with the metal atom (XH...M) and with hydrogen atom of transition metal hydrides and boron hydrides (XH…HM), (XH...HB). The spectral (IR, NMR) evidence of the hydrogen bond formation due to interaction of proton donors with metal and hydride hydrogen as proton acccptors is presented. The thermodynamic and spectral characteristics of these hydrogen bonds are determined. An analysis of similarity between spectral and thermodynamic properties of the novel and classical H-bonding with organic bases is carried out. The participation of these hydrogen bonds in proton transfer is analyzed.
