Abstract
Linking rings: A short enantioselective synthesis is used to obtain axially chiral natural product hybrids with promising antimicrotubule properties. The biaryl configuration was controlled by induction from a benzylic stereocenter in a diastereoselective Suzuki coupling. The medium ring of the target molecules was then installed by a SN1- or SN2-type cyclization with minimal loss of optical purity.
