Abstract
The interpolytypic transition from the IT to the 2H modification in the TaS2 system is shown to be a shear transformation. A transformation mechanism is proposed based on partial dislocation movement along successive glide planes. The same mechanism accounts for the observed simultaneous formation of polytypes other than 2H such as 4Hb. The observations confirm the general aspects of the transformation and also the Burgers-vector analysis of the “transformation dislocations” gives support to the model. Similar shear processes can be invoked for the formation of the polytypes which give rise to particular superstructures in NbTe2 and TaTe2.
Es wird gezeigt, das der Interpolytypen-Ubergang von der IT- zur 2H-Modifikation im TaS2 eine Scher-Transformation ist. Es wird ein Transformationsmechanismus auf der Grundlage einer Teilversetzungswanderung langs sukzessiver Gleitebenen vorgeschlagen. Der gleiche Mechanismus ist auch fur die beobachtete simultane Bildung von anderen Polytypen als 2H wie z. B. 4Hb verantwortlich. Die Beobachtungen bestatigen die allgemeinen Vorstellungen uber den Ubergang. Die Analyse des Burgersvektors der „Ubergangs-Versetzungen” unterstutzt das Modell. Ahnliche Scherprozesse konnen an der Bildung der Polytypen beteiligt sein und Anlas zu speziellen Superstrukturen in NbTe2 und TaTe2 geben.
