Synthesis and Biological Activity of Oximes, Amines, and Lactams of Fusidane Triterpenoids

Abstract
New nitrogen-containing derivatives of fusidic acid were synthesized via oximation reaction and Beckmann rearrangement. Biological tests have shown that the introduction of a lactam ring into a molecule provides high antibacterial activity, comparable to that of a native antibiotic. The presence of oxime groups in the methylfusidate molecule induces a high antitumor effect against the H522 non-small cell lung cancer cell line.
