Abstract
-(-)-α-Multistriatin[(1 S , 2 R ,4 S ,5 R )-2,4-dimethyl-5-ethyl-6,8-dioxabicyclo-[3.2.1]octane] was synthesized from ( Z )-2-butene-1,4-diol monobenzyl ether by employing the Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation and the regioselective epoxide cleavage with Me3Al as the key-steps.
