Abstract
Ionic hydrogen bond formation by protonated metallocene and the anion, [(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 ) 2 OsH] + … − OOCCF 3 , as the first stage of deprotonation was discovered by IR spectra in low polar solvents. The equilibrium between the molecular and ionic hydrogen-bonded complexes, (η 5 -C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Os…HOOCCF 3 , formed after proton transfer is investigated. The structure of the ion pairs [(η 5 -C 5 Me 5 ) 2 OsH] + A − (A BF 4 , PF 6 , CF 3 SO 3 ) in the solid state and solution are discussed.
