Abstract
Organic electrosynthesis is rightly believed to be a sustainable method to generate products with high selectivity and efficiency. The sustainability is further enhanced if both electrode reactions, oxidation at the anode and reduction at the cathode, give valuable products. There are a number of different approaches to realize such processes and such techniques are incomparable with traditional chemical methods. In this article, the advances in linear paired electrolysis are exemplified and from a personal view, the recent advances in convergent paired electrolysis and the approach to activate transition metal catalysts by paired electrolysis will be presented.
