The 17-electron dihydrido complexes of iridium(IV) Ir IV (H) 2 (Cl) 2 (P-i-Pr 3 ) 2 and Ir IV (H) 2 (Cl) 2 (PCy 3 ) 2 are prepared by the reaction of (NH 4 ) 2 IrCl 6 with PR 3 (PR 3 =P-i-Pr 3 and PCy 3 ) in refluxing ethanol, containing concentrated HCl. Their magnetic moments are 1.5 and 1.6 μ B , respectively. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 reveal slightly distorted octahedral geometries with three pairs of trans ligands: PR 3 , Cl, and H
