Abstract
Diamond nanoparticles produced via trinitrotoluene/cyclomethylenetrinitramine detonation are shown to have a tetragonal structure with lattice parameters a = 3.585 Å and c= 3.45 Å. The synchrotron x-ray diffraction pattern of the diamond nanoparticles is well fitted, both in peak positions and relative intensities, by the diffraction pattern calculated for hollow spherical particles. The fitting results provide evidence that the sample studied consists of hollow diamond particles with an inner diameter of 18.94 Å and outer diameter of 25.47 Å.
