New preparation and characterization of various methylchloroger-manes and digermanes Me3GeCl, Me3GeGeClMe2, Me2ClGeGeClMe2 are described. Decomposition of these digermanes proceeds by α-elimination with formation of dimethylgermylene Me2Ge:
