Abstract
Abstract—Conditions for preparing radiation-resistant titanium alloys by electric-arc melting with a nonconsumable tungsten electrode in an argon atmosphere and subsequent cutting into planar samples and vacuum heat treatment of them are described. Titanium alloys with niobium, molybdenum, zirconium, and aluminum are prepared using several-stage electric-arc melting. The homogeneity of chemical element distribution in the alloy samples is estimated by energy dispersive mapping. To determine the effect of alloying elements and heat treatment temperature (700, 800, and 900°C), the mechanical properties of the alloys are analyzed. Heat treatment at 900°C is found to increase the ultimate strength to 766 MPa.
