Abstract
The method of adsorption of acid–base indicators with pKa values in the range from −4.4 to 14.2 is used to study the functional composition of the surface of porous silicate sorbents of various morphologies and chemical compositions. The objects of study are synthetic silicates obtained under hydrothermal conditions (layered silicates with the montmorillonite structure, aluminosilicates of the kaolinite subgroup with spherical, platy, and nanospongy morphologies, framework aluminosilicates (Beta zeolite)), and a natural nanotubular halloysite. The properties of the studied samples are compared with those of a widely used sorbent, activated carbon. An analysis of the functional composition of the surface shows the potential use of porous aluminosilicates as alternative medical sorbents, including selective hemosorbents.
