This review is devoted to a description of the properties of hybrid membranes composed of high-molecular cation exchangers and nanoparticles of inorganic compounds. The techniques for preparing hybrid membranes, their conductive properties under high and low humidity, the selectivity of transport processes, and the mechanical characteristics are discussed. These properties are considered on the basis of a recently developed model of the semielasticity of membrane pore walls that was proposed to explain changes in membrane ionic conductivity. In this review, this model advanced further toward an explanation of other membrane properties, including their selectivity and mechanical strength.
