Abstract
The phenomenon of the surface enrichment and the effect of the enrichment on the formation of surface bi- and polymetallic nanosystems involving group-VIII and -IB metals are studied by the adsorptionspectral probing of the surfaces of applied complex metallic systems using a CO test molecule. By changing the chemistry of the surface and combining different metals, it is possible to enrich the surface in an expensive, more active component present in the sample volume in a small amount, which is important when creating polymetallic systems with preset properties.
