Scientific Center "Problems of processing of mineral and man-made resources" (NC "Processing of resources") St. Petersburg Mining University of Empress Catherine II was established by order of the rector dated 10/23/2021 No. 1456 Adm. The purpose of the NC "Processing of Resources" is to develop and implement sound scientific and technical solutions for the processing of mineral and man-made resources for the development of the economy of the Russian Federation.

The main activity of the laboratory is the experimental study of the high-temperature behavior of refractory and super-refractory materials: oxides, carbides, nitrides, etc. The laboratory has developed and implemented experimental methods for determining the full range of thermophysical properties of substances: melting points, thermal conductivity, radiative characteristics, thermal expansion coefficients, molecular composition of steam, etc. At the same time, the instrument base and the experimental base make it possible to analyze the behavior of a substance in the temperature range that is inaccessible using standard commercial equipment.
