Research directions
The study of biogeochemical patterns of radioecological and chemoecological processes in the ecosystems of the reservoirs of the Azov-Black Sea basin in comparison with other waters of the World Ocean and individual aquatic ecosystems of their catchment areas to ensure sustainable development in the southern seas of Russia

Work in the field of marine radioecology and dynamic radio chemoecology, to assess the ecological capacity of the marine environment in relation to pollutants in the water area. Using analytical, experimental radioisotope methods and radiotransfer technologies, we determine pollution levels and self-purification flows of marine and freshwater ecosystems from radioactive (90Sr, 137Cs, transuranic elements), chemical (heavy metals, chlorinated hydrocarbons) pollutants, by studying the concentrating ability of biotic and abiotic components of aquatic ecosystems in relation to the main dose-forming technogenic (90Sr, 137Cs, 239+240Pu) and natural (210Po) radioisotopes, which made it possible to proceed to quantitative assessments of the role of biota in the reproduction of the ecological quality of the aquatic environment and to assess the types of biogeochemical behavior of these radioisotopes in marine ecosystems. Study of jet gas manifestations in marine ecosystems, assessment of methane greenhouse gas fluxes into the atmosphere from marine and freshwater ecosystems.
