Lab team

Testing laboratory of the STC "New Technologies and Materials" of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University is equipped with equipment that allows both sampling and sample production, as well as conducting a wide range of tests and studies of the composition, structure and properties of materials (steels, alloys, composite materials, protective coatings and surfacing material) in accordance with various standards, as well as specialized laboratory techniques.

In research (testing), a combination of destructive and non-destructive testing methods and conformity assessment are used: corrosion studies, mechanical tests, electrochemical effects, evaluation of performance characteristics in various conditions – during gas saturation (CO2, H2S, H2, etc.), load, elevated temperatures and/or pressures, under the influence of humidity, salts, etc., as well as in the flow and under abrasive action for physical modeling of operating conditions and targeted selection of materials.

Testing laboratory develops and uses specialized research stands to identify patterns changes in the functional relationship "composition-structure-properties" under the influence of external factors.

Testing laboratory is engaged in conducting standard and non-standard tests, as well as a wide range of research work.

The Corrosion Laboratory conducts standard and non-standard corrosion tests, as well as a wide range of research activities: conducting tests for sulfide stress corrosion cracking; hydrogen-induced cracking; general corrosion; resistance to pitting; resistance to crevice corrosion; resistance to intercrystalline corrosion; electrochemical tests; accelerated tests for susceptibility to corrosion cracking by the electrochemical method; SSRT; autoclave tests; bench tests; coating tests.
