The Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory was established on the basis of the YUU FNC MiG Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2019 on the basis of a scientific group that conducted geoarchaeological research led by Doctor of Geological Sciences, Professor V.V. Zaikov since 1990. The team has extensive experience in solving problems related to ancient industries: mining, metallurgy, pottery, weaving, animal husbandry. The interdisciplinary research area of the laboratory also includes the study of promising deposits and mineral associations using high-precision analytical methods.

Research directions

Mineralogical and geochemical markers of mineral raw materials of ancient and modern industries of Central Eurasia

+
The development of mineral deposits for the production of various materials (metal, building materials, glass, ceramics, optical fiber, etc.) is an essential part of human production activities. In this regard, the study of mineral raw materials at all stages of its use, from mining to obtaining the final product, and from its formation in ancient times to modern approaches, does not lose relevance. In the historical context, the search and research of mineral sources is based on a comprehensive and detailed analysis of archaeological sites (settlements, burial complexes, mines) and artifacts. The results of such studies make it possible to solve the most important historical issues of the way of life of ancient communities, their contacts and migrations.
