The main activity is the development of new approaches to the conversion of renewable plant biomass and the production of valuable derivatives based on 5-(hydroxymethyl)furfural and other furan "platform compounds" to solve the problems of limited global reserves of non-renewable natural resources and global climate change associated with an uncontrolled increase in consumption of fossil raw materials.
