Medical biopolymers
The scientific group "Medical Biopolymers" is an interdisciplinary team of researchers. We conduct bioengineering studies of natural polymers obtained biotechnologically: poly-3-hydroxyalkanoates and alginates. Our scientific work consists of several experimental research blocks reflecting different levels of biopolymer research:
- "Biotechnology". Investigation of controlled biosynthesis of bacterial poly-3-hydroxyalkanoates and alginates, preparation of biopolymers with a given chemical structure.
- "Polymer chemistry". Investigation of the relationship between the supramolecular structure and the physico-chemical properties of polymers.
- "Bioengineering". Construction of various polymer products: matrices and microspheres with a given shape and microstructure.
- "Cell Biology". Investigation of biocompatibility and biological activity of polymers on cell cultures in vitro.
- "Biodegradation". Investigation of polymer biodegradation on models of hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation of polymers in vitro and on laboratory animals in vivo.
- "Biopharmaceuticals". The creation of polymer systems for the controlled release of drugs and the study of the kinetics of their release.
- "Biomedicine". The study of the biological activity and therapeutic effectiveness of the developed structures on in vivo disease models.
- Biosynthesis of bacterial poly-3-hydroxyalkanoates and alginates
