About
I am currently a PhD student at the University of Auckland, where I am focused on utilizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to enhance mental health monitoring and assistance. My academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Information Technology from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka.
My research interests lie at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), NLP, and Deep Learning, particularly in their applications within the health sector. I am passionate about developing innovative solutions that can support mental health initiatives, which I believe is a critical area that requires robust software engineering interventions.
My PhD research specifically targets mental health, a growing global issue, by leveraging advanced NLP techniques to provide more effective monitoring and assistance tools. Additionally, I have conducted studies on the impact of social media on human behavior, focusing on the distribution of hate content and its societal implications.
Through my work, I aim to bridge the gap between AI technology and practical health applications, contributing to a future where AI-driven solutions can significantly improve mental health care and support systems.
