About

Arianna Carannante is a Tenure Track Assistant Professor CEAR-11/A (History of Architecture) at Sapienza University of Rome (DSDRA). From 2020 to 2022, she was a research fellow at the Politecnico di Torino (DIST), and from 2023 to 2024 at the Sapienza Università di Roma (DSDRA). In Fall 2024, she was a Weinberg Fellow in Architectural History and Preservation at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University.

She holds a Ph.D. in History of Architecture from Sapienza University of Rome, earned through a joint doctoral program with Sorbonne University of Paris (2021). Her research focuses on Romanesque architecture in Apulia, as well as on Angevin and mendicant patronage in medieval Southern Italy. In recent years, she has also investigated communal palaces and the relationship between architecture and urban space in central and southern Italy.

She has presented her work at national and international conferences and has published extensively on these topics. Among her recent publications is the book La cattedrale di Lucera e l'architettura angioina del primo Trecento (Rome: Viella, 2023).
