With a Ph.D. in Global Studies from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in Japan, Dr. Guita Hourani is a distinguished scholar in the fields ofmigration, refugees, and citizenship. Notable achievements in her careerinclude founding the Lebanese Center for Migration and Diaspora Studies atNotre Dame University, where she has made significant contributions to theglobal understanding of migration from, to, and through Lebanon. In addition toher academic work, Dr. Hourani has provided expert testimony in complex legalcases related to immigration, naturalization, asylum, and family law, andserves as a country information expert for various international institutions.Prior to her return to Lebanon, she worked as a consultant in Washington, D.C.,with notable collaborations, including with the World Bank. Dr. Houranicurrently serves as an Expert on Citizenship at the European Union DemocracyObservatory on Citizenship (EUDO) and holds senior research fellow positions atUkraine Catholic University; Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan; and the Holy Spirit University, Lebanon. Her primary research interests encompass three key areas: migration to, from, and through Lebanon; youth employment and the labor market; and Maronite studies.
