About

Lucas Petroni is an Associate Professor at the São Paulo School of Economics (EESP – FGV). He holds degrees in philosophy and political science from the University of São Paulo (USP) and was a visiting doctoral and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Philosophy of Yale University, University of São Paulo, and the Research Center Normative Orders (Goethe Universität). Lucas is an associate researcher at the Brazilian Center for Research and Planning (Cebrap) where he conducts research on the themes of climate justice and the nature of egalitarianism. He is co-author of the book "A New Science of Politics" (2021). His current research aims to understand and analyze claims for equality in societies marked by structural injustices. His main research themes are: contemporary theories of justice, inequality, poverty, political authority, second-person morality, climate justice, and the philosophy of John Rawls.
