Prabhakar Krishnamurthy
About
Krishnamurthy Prabhakar (1955) serves as a Visiting Professor at the Central University of Jammu (retired) and the Anna Institute of Administrative Staff College and Highway Research Station within the Government of Tamil Nadu. He is responsible for training IAS, IES, IFS officers, and other government employees. With over four decades of experience in policy research and academia, he specializes in Public Policy, Ethics, Communication, Psychology of Retirement, and Qualitative Research. His research addresses critical societal issues including poverty, inequality, malnutrition, mental health, and occupational health.
An Oxford University scholar, Prabhakar has contributed to the Oxford Poverty and Development Initiative, notably working on the Multidimensional Poverty Index. He has conducted malnutrition studies with World Vision, providing comprehensive statistical analysis, and has published seventy papers in international journals. His professional development includes training at the University of Passau, Germany on the Transparency Index. He instructs doctoral scholars across prestigious institutions such as IIT Chennai, Central University of Jammu, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Azim Premji University, Central University of Tripura, and Central University of Puducherry. Furthermore, he holds the position of subject matter expert for Qualitative Research using Nvivo.
Prabhakar's academic qualifications encompass training at IIM Calcutta and a PhD in Social Forecasting from Aligarh Muslim University. He has fulfilled roles as a research advisor at IIT Madras and participated as a member of the educational subcommittee of CII, Tamil Nadu. His international recognition includes scholarships from the Modigliani Foundation in Italy and the University of Passau for his study on the Transparency Index. He was awarded a scholarship from ISEO School and was the first individual from India to study alongside three Nobel laureates at the ISEO School. He serves as visiting faculty for eight academic staff colleges across India and has conducted twenty-seven Faculty Development Programmes on Research Methods, Mixed Methods, and Statistical Analysis using JASP.
