About
Juliana Wexel is a research fellow at FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) and CIAC (Center for Research in Arts and Communication) at the University of Algarve, a PhD candidate in Digital Media-Arts at the Open University of Lisbon (UAb) and the University of Algarve (UAlg) in Portugal, journalist, multimedia artist and university professor. For three decades, she has been working in various areas, from Communication to the Arts, from Audiovisual to Performing Arts. She was a Madrelingua lecturer in Brazilian Portuguese at the Department of Foreign Languages, Literature and Modern Cultures - LILEC at the School of Languages and Literature, Translation and Interpretation at the University of Bologna (Unibo), in Italy, in the Undergraduate and Master's courses, as well as a lecturer at the Department of Social Communication, Veiga de Almeida University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is currently developing the cultural radio project "MappaMundi, in giro con gli Astri" at NeuRadio, a radio station based in Bologna Museum of Modern Art (MAMbo) via the Associazione Culturale Humus and which is part of one of the multimedia authorial projects in Juli no Mundi Media Art Project. She worked as an editor and presenter for Canal Futura, a Brazilian educational television station with national coverage. She was responsible for network production with university television stations and audiovisual centers of the 66 partner universities of the station. She conceived the Urban Artistic Interventions series, the first Brazilian audiovisual series for television and the internet on the subject, and was one of the co-creators of the program Rede de Olhares, also broadcast nationally by the same station. She has a degree in Social Communication - Major in Journalism from the University of Caxias do Sul (2004), a Master's degree in Literature, Culture and Regionality from UCS (2012) and has a free and interdisciplinary education in performing arts. In 2010, she coordinated the television journalism area of TV Pública de Caxias do Sul, in Brazil. From 2010 to 2012, she was the Journalism Coordinator at UCS TV, an educational channel at the University of Caxias do Sul and a partner station of Canal Futura. During the same period, she conceived, developed and presented television programs for UCSTV - including "Ação e Diversidade" and "Rede de Olhares", a program on mentalities, and also for UCSFM radio, "Depois de Clarice" and the Digital Media project "Sem Canal". She created an interface for audiovisual experimentation in subjects of the Social Communication and Experimental Agency courses at the University of Caxias do Sul and UCSTV. She also develops performances, subjects and artistic installations through the Juli no Mundi Media Art Project, such as the digital uninstallation "ivagination". https://vimeo.com/437164376.
