Mr. Carlos Jaramillo has been involved in all phases of the design of major hydropower, water resources and other infrastructure projects, from their initial feasibility studies through their life cycle, ending in inspection, safety evaluation, rehabilitation of existing works, or their final removal or replacement. He has led design teams or directly performed design studies for tunnels, caverns, shafts, and other underground structures and has prepared tunnel boring machine (TBM) selection and specification, contract documents, and provided construction support. His experience includes the geotechnical design and layout of dams, particularly concrete-faced rockfill dams (CFRDs), and foundations for RCC dams. Mr. Jaramillo’s expertise is the interpretation of the geologic and geotechnical conditions and apply geotechnical engineering and rock mechanics to mitigate the site conditions.

Mr. Jaramillo has been appointed to numerous Panel of Experts or Board of Consultants for hydropower, dams and tunneling projects in North and South America, and South and South East Asia. His long experience as a design engineer gives him a unique perspective of the panel of experts approach and value.

Mr. Jaramillo is a contributor to major technical journals as an author and technical reviewer.
